The best cheap eats in Seoul
Cheap eats for when you can't wine and dine any longer
Here at Time Out Seoul, we love to eat well (obviously) and we love to eat out. But as much as we appreciate wining and dining, we’re beyond grateful for the vast array of cheap eats available in Seoul. From kimbaps that keep us satiated and satisfied when it’s been too long since our last paycheck to some of the best bánh mi and Moroccan in the country, these cheap eats keep us eating (while allowing us to pay our rent at the same time).
The best kimbap in Seoul
Don't just mmmbop, kimbap!
01. Seoho Gimbap
During the early ‘90s, Café Street was teeming with young people. Fancy cafés and restaurants lined the streets in the ‘80s, and the Yatas and the Oranges (terms that refer to bougie youth with expensive cars) swarmed here and in Apgujeong Rodeo. A couple decades later, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a decent café here, but Seoho Gimbap—you can spot right away. This hole-in-the-wall diner first opened in 1992 and is still overflowing with hungry customers. The interior has been renovated, but the tuna gimbap with mayo and kimchi sujebi tastes just the same and people line up to order them during the lunch rush. The early days of Seoho Gimbap can be re-visited in scenes from the 1993 film Two Cops, whose backdrop captures the very neighborhood. Lead actors Ahn Sung-ki and Park Joong-hoon walk past here on their way to ambush the black market record seller.
